Health & Genetic Testing
What we test for, and why titled lines are a health signal in their own right.
Health Comes Before The Litter
At Argos Kennels, the health, temperament and genetic integrity of our dogs are our top priorities. Every dog in our breeding program undergoes rigorous health testing to ensure we are producing sound, reliable, well-structured companions — whether for family life, working roles, or sport.
Every Breeding Dog, Every Time
- HDAll Breeding Dogs
Hip Dysplasia
All dogs receive official evaluations to ensure strong hip structure and mobility, minimizing the risk of hereditary joint issues.
- EDAll Breeding Dogs
Elbow Dysplasia
We test for elbow joint development to prevent chronic issues that could affect performance or quality of life.
- JLPPRottweilers
Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis & Polyneuropathy
A serious hereditary condition we actively screen against. We breed from JLPP-clear dogs only, to promote strong genetics and long-term health in our Rottweiler puppies.

Why Titled Lines Matter For Health
Titled dogs — those with working titles in IGP, police detection or search and rescue — are not just trained for performance. They have passed evaluations that indirectly reinforce genetic health and structural soundness.
- 01
Physical Resilience
Dogs competing in demanding sports need excellent orthopedic health — strong hips, elbows and joints — to endure years of high-impact training. Only dogs with sound structure reach and hold title-level performance.
- 02
Temperament Stability
Titled dogs are tested for nerve strength, obedience, confidence and social stability, all of which have a genetic component and are critical for both working success and family suitability.
- 03
Selective Breeding Pressure
Breeders who pursue titles make intentional, disciplined choices — using dogs that not only perform well but pass health checks and show longevity in their lines.
- 04
Verified Lineage
Titles come with comprehensive documentation, which keeps bloodlines transparent and helps breeders avoid inbreeding, hereditary disease and undesirable traits.
